Covid-19 is having devastating effects on our local communities.
These are uniquely very difficult times. The COVID-19 virus strains small businesses to make payroll, maintain inventory, and keep their doors open. Many restaurants and social gathering places have closed. Families struggle to pay for basic needs – food and shelter. Present statistics say that 30% of restaurants may not re-open after this crisis is over. Prince George’s County residents who too often already struggle to put a meal on the table are now faced with joblessness and uncertainty about their health and their future.
Join Councilmember Dannielle Glaros, CKAR CDC, Kaiser Permanente and community partners to support restaurants in the Greater Riverdale and Route One communities during this COVID-19 crisis to provide healthy warm meals to those in need.
Your donation of $40 will provide a delicious and healthy meal for a family of four from a local restaurant. Together we can keep our Greater Riverdale and Route One kitchens open, workers employed and provide healthy, nutritious food to neighbors in need.
Your donation will directly support the purchase of meals from our partner restaurants Banana Blossom Bistro, Denizens Brewing Co, Dumms 2Fifty Texas BBQ, Riviera Tapas Bar, Emerita’s, Krazi Kebob, Shortcake Bakery, Marathon Deli, Hanami, and Pizza Roma to help keep their kitchens open and their staff on payroll. The meals are distributed – free of charge – to neighbors in need in the Greater Riverdale communities (zip code 20737), College Park, Hyattsville and University Park. Our restaurants have prepared, and we have distributed from 1,500 to 2,000 meals per month since our conception in April 2020. You can keep this going by your continued support. Together, we can support our local businesses, feed our neighbors, and demonstrate that Greater Riverdale Cares and Route One Communities Care.
